Stars Foundation

Stars Foundation

Stars Foundation was established by the Saudi Al Dabbagh Group in 2001 as its global philanthropic arm to improve the lives of children and their communities globally. In 2007 the Stars Foundation launched their Impact Awards programme which carries out a rigorous assessment procedure to identify leading local indigenous NGO’s working across 100 countries in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Asia Pacific region. Stars were initially providing six awards per year to the strongest NGO’s working in Education, Protection and Health. Each Award provided $100,000 of unrestricted funding plus consultancy support and a package of media benefits.

The Foundation supported Stars Foundation’s Impact Awards with a grant of $200,000 in 2013 to provide the grant prize element for the new Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) category for the 2013 and 2014 Award ceremonies.  Through this funding we were able to benefit from, and feed in to, Stars Foundation’s assessment process to identify and support high quality local NGO’s working within the WASH sector.
